Registers of Scotland Simplifies Network Management with Appliance-based DHCP
Registers of Scotland (RoS), the government agency responsible for maintaining property and legal registers, needed a reliable way to manage IP addresses across multiple sites for staff and 300 guest WiFi users.
Previously, RoS ran DNS on Novell NetWare and managed DHCP in-house, but frequent system updates created a heavy maintenance burden — especially for their guest WiFi network. To reduce administrative overhead and improve network stability, they sought an appliance-based solution that would simplify management.
After evaluating options, RoS selected DNSBOX for its stable Linux foundation, efficient DHCP management, and seamless scope synchronization. The intuitive interface helped prevent misconfigurations, while its cost-effectiveness made it a clear winner over other enterprise solutions.
With two DNSBOX210 units deployed in a high-availability setup, RoS now has a simpler, more resilient system that meets both staff and guest WiFi needs. The new setup has reduced maintenance demands while providing a stable foundation for future network growth.
