"DNSBOX really helped me get Windows Server out of my district..."
At Aptakisic-Tripp Community Consolidated School District, Network Manager Evan Tiberi was responsible for a network of 3,500 students across 4 schools. Despite migrating the district's network infrastructure to the cloud, Evan knew that DHCP was one service that should remain on-site. He didn't want such an important service at the mercy of his internet connection or to incur additional latency.
Consequently, Evan was maintaining an on-site Windows Server solely for DNS and DHCP. But he had become fed up with the constant patching needed to maintain a server that provided little other functionality. Unaware of any viable alternatives for on-site DNS and DHCP, he felt trapped.
So Evan was relieved to discover DNSBOX. As a dedicated appliance, it had all the functionality that he needed for on-site DNS and DHCP without the high administrative overhead. He deployed two DNSBOX200s in his network to finally remove his Windows server, with the additional benefit of high availability. As Evan explains:
"DNSBOX is much better than the Windows servers for DNS and DHCP. You get much more in terms of DNS options and with things like email logging and reservations. The whole process of deploying the units and migrating from our Windows servers to DNSBOX was straightforward and simple to set up."
"It really helped me to get Windows out of my district. No-one wants a Windows guy just walking around patching things every day just to maintain the DNS and DHCP service. And, as an added bonus, the pricing is great for schools for what you get!"
